Oak barrel ends are available in a range of diameters and a variety of finishes. They are ideal for use in pubs and bars as signs or just
for decor.
Rustic Ends
These shallow ends are left in their rustic state as they would have been when they were in original use. The sides
of the end have a weathered surface and the hoops are lightly rusted. The end may be plain or for the 23" and larger ends they will most probably be painted with a
plain colour and a distillery name.
Rustic with Black Hoops
These are the same as the rustic ends with the exception of the black painted hoop iron. The photograph to the left shows an 18" end.
Varnished
These shallow ends are have been sanded to remove the weathered surface wood. The hoops are black painted and the whole
exterior coated in yacht varnish. The end shown in the photograph is 21" in diameter and has the optional wooden tap fitted.
Dark Stained
The dark stained ends have black painted hoops and a dark stained finish to the wood. The photograph to the left shows a 15" end fitted
with the optional wooden tap.
Shallow barrel ends are approximately 8” (20cm) deep. Diameters are as shown in the table but are approximate since each end has been individually
coopered. All hoop iron is nailed in position and the staves are stapled in order to withstand shrinkage in warm, dry environments.
