Myoshi Japanese Lantern

This simple classical lantern of Ikekomi-gata style has been beautifully hand-carved from solid granite. The apertures are fitted with wooden lattice window frames, which provide an additional mystique of seclusion. They are usually placed in an entrance to a path or along the route of a path as guide lanterns. The roof can be lifted to allow a tea light to be placed inside giving the flicker of natural light at nighttime. The lantern is also pre-drilled so you can fit a low voltage electric light if preferred.
